Diagnostic and formal assessments Diagnostic and neuropsychological assessment of developmental, learning, emotional and behavioral problems of children ages 2 years to early adulthood. This includes differential diagnosis and treatment recommendations for ADHD, learning disabilities, Autism, Asperger's, PDD,NOS, anxiety, depression and other conditions. Treatment recommendations address educational considerations, therapy and family-based interventions. Assessments typically include a clinical interview with the caregiver(s), observation of the child, psychological testing and a feedback session with the parents. Formal testing may include measures of the following:
Academic/pre-academic achievement Adaptive skills Attention/executive functions Behavior Intellectual functioning Language and language-related processes Learning and memory Nonverbal/visual processing Motor skills Personality and emotional functioning Social skills Psychotherapy and consultation Dr. Araujo provides individual and family-based psychotherapy to children and adolescents for a variety of mental health issues. Presentation of evaluation findings and/or school-based consultation can also be provided to assist with educational planning and interventions.
| Mariam Araujo, Ph.D. Dr. Araujo has worked in a combination of educational and clinical settings providing services to children and adolescents with developmental, learning or emotional difficulties. In 2002 she received her Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley in Educational Psychology. Dr. Araujo worked as a school psychologist for several years and completed clinical psychology internships at the University of California, San Francisco. She subsequently completed a two year joint post-doctoral fellowship at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and worked as a staff psychologist at the University of Washington Autism Center. Dr. Araujo has obtained specialized experience in neuropsychological assessment and therapy with children affected by chronic illness, acquired injuries, neurodevelopmental and learning disorders. She currently also works part-time as an attending psychologist at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center. |
